The law kept people under guard like children until faith arrived. God sent His Son in the fullness of time so believers could receive adoption as sons. God gives believers a new capacity and motive to fulfill the new covenant command to love one another.

The law demands perfection and curses all who fail, but Christ redeemed us from this curse. The inheritance comes by the promise God gave 430 years before the law. The obsolete old covenant gives way to the new covenant and its better promises.
