Hebrews 7:20-28 (view passage online)

This message explains the security believers have in Jesus as the guarantee of a better covenant, which God confirmed with an oath. Because Christ has an unchangeable priesthood and an endless life, he is able to save completely all who come to God through him. His finished, “once for all” sacrifice provides a confident assurance that religious works cannot offer.

This study of Hebrews 7 uses Melchizedek to show that Christ’s priesthood is superior to the old Levitical system. The old law could not make anyone perfect, so God replaced it with a better hope found in Jesus. Through His perfect sacrifice and endless life, we gain direct and confident access to God’s throne of grace.
