God gives His people power, love, and a sound mind, not a spirit of fear. Believers can be confident and unashamed because Christ abolished death and brought immortality to light. Knowing the one in whom we have believed removes all fear of suffering or death.

Through faith in Christ, we are freed from the law’s condemnation and the dominating power of indwelling sin. Hebrews 12:18-24 (view passage online)
This sermon draws a stark contrast between the fear and terror of the Old Covenant law given at Sinai, and the peace and grace of the New Covenant in Christ. The law’s purpose is to reveal sin and bring condemnation, proving that no one can be justified by works. In Christ, however, we approach God not with fear but with confidence, fully justified by faith in His finished sacrifice.
