Peter tells believers to arm themselves with the mind of Christ and live the rest of their time for the will of God. He who suffers in the flesh ceases from sin and no longer lives for the lusts of men. Former companions will think it strange when believers no longer run with them in sin.

Paul instructs the strong to bear with the scruples of the weak and to please their neighbors for edification. Believers must not please themselves, following the example of Christ who did not please Himself. He prays the God of hope fills the church with all joy and peace in believing.
