Paul expresses his shock that the Galatians are so quickly abandoning the true gospel for a distorted message. He stresses that his priority is to please God, not people, and issues a strong curse on anyone who preaches a different gospel.

Paul instructs the strong to bear with the scruples of the weak and to please their neighbors for edification. Believers must not please themselves, following the example of Christ who did not please Himself. He prays the God of hope fills the church with all joy and peace in believing.

Paul commands strong believers to bear the weaknesses of others and pursue their edification. Christ set this pattern by never seeking to please Himself. Believers achieve like-mindedness only by esteeming others above themselves and receiving one another just as Christ received us.
