Deacons are servants who manage the practical needs of the church, freeing elders to focus on prayer and teaching the Word. A deacon must be a man of honorable character who holds firmly to the faith with a clear conscience and manages his own family well. Those who serve faithfully gain a respected standing and grow in confidence and boldness in their faith.
